Headliners - Genevieve Carver
Our headliner for April is Genevieve Carver!
Genevieve Carver is a Sheffield-based poet, spoken word artist and theatre-maker. Since she began writing and performing poetry in 2011, she has gone on to appear at events and festivals from the Edinburgh Fringe to the Canadian Rockies. Her work has appeared in publications including Iota, Envoi, The White Review, Tears in the Fence, and The North, and her first collection, A Beautiful Way to be Crazy, is published by Verve Poetry Press (2020).
At the core of her debut collection is an award-winning live show of the same name, which explores female experiences in the music industry and combines spoken word with verbatim audio recordings and music from multi-instrumentalist live band The Unsung. Genevieve & The Unsung are touring the full show throughout spring and summer 2020.
“Genevieve Carver exudes a warm humility that perfectly complements the fragile and overwhelmingly human spirit at the heart of her storytelling” – The Reviews Hub.
“Genevieve Carver is a stunning poet - her writing strikes sharply and with intention. A Beautiful Way To Be Crazy is a difficult book to put down. I can't remember the last time reading a poetry collection was this much fun: damn clever, fiercely honest and speaks to the heart of its reader." – Ciarán Hodgers Website: genevievecarver.com Insta/Facebook/Twitter: @theunsungpoetry
